Furious Carol Vorderman accuses the government of 'actively encouraging corruption'

Carol Vorderman has launched another furious attack on the government.

The former Countdown star, 62, has accused those in 10 Downing Street of "actively encouraging corruption" and expressed her anger online over the Procurement Bill passed by the current Tory government in July 2022.

Carol has vowed to do all she can, along with Good Law Project director Jo Maugham, to "expose" the government, who she says is "to its very soul, corrupt".

Sharing a collection of screenshots of her recent tweets, Carol penned a lengthy caption when addressing her followers on Instagram this morning.

"FRIDAY'S TWITTER ROUND UP," the angry star began when posting to her 327,000 followers.

"There is a cyclone of bad news and twisted rhetoric in the world of politics this week.

"As you might know, I try to keep my insta and twitter feeds as separate parts of life, but do a round up on a Friday. Here it is for this week."

Carol continued to write: "Also working on a bigger piece hopefully to come out very soon.

"VIP LANES for ministers to be actively involved in giving contracts but NOT having to declare it has been passed into law by the Procurement Bill.

"Yes. The UK government is actively encouraging corruption!!! With an appalling record so far. Think up to £58 BILLION of fraud through gov depts in one year, this week confirmed by the Office of National Statistics, as a single example.

Carol shared several screenshots of her recent tweets with her Instagram followers today (@carolvorders/Instagram)

"To say I am, and I'm sure you too are, angry is probably the biggest understatement of the month."

The controversial Procurement Bill has previously been described as a "charter for cronies" that legalises its Covid VIP lane and will hand more power to ministers.

Speaking last year, Labour’s deputy leader, Angela Rayner, said: "This government is presiding over a procurement racket at the expense of the British people. Under the Tories, cronies have never had it so good.

"They cut murky deals in the dark with their mates using taxpayers’ money and this procurement bill would hand them a golden ticket to do it all over again. This bill is a charter for cronies. Labour is demanding ministers act to ensure genuine transparency and clawback in contracts.

"Under a Labour government there will be no hiding place for cronies and no corner for corruption. We’ll give the Tory sleaze merchants their marching orders, end handouts to tax havens and strike off failed providers."

The government claim the Procurement Bill will see Britain take advantage of post-Brexit opportunities, allowing the UK to shape its own procurement rules, while complying with international obligations.

They allege simpler, more flexible and less complicated rules will open up more government procurement for small businesses and voluntary and community groups.

As Carol shared her tweets on Instagram this morning, fans and famous rushed to thank the star and beg her to enter the world of politics.

"Fight the fight, Vorders," Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies told the I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! star.

"Thank you for continuing to speak up ," one fan added, as another asked: "Genuine serious question Carol: why don’t you run for office?"

A third mused: "So much money is wasted by the government. But when the hard working junior doctors ask for pay restoration, the government is not even willing to talk to them."
