Fundraiser started for Bristol woman ‘who touched so many lives’

Beautiful, bright and caring. That’s how Maisie Swift described her best friend Amanda Rogers, who died earlier this month. The 25-year-old had been battling mental health problems and drug addiction and her family and friends have been left in shock at her sudden death.

Now Maisie is organising a GoFundMe page to help Amanda’s family with funeral costs. She said she and Amanda, from Bradley Stoke, had grown up together and were always at each other’s homes. Maisie said: “We were inseparable. We’ve still got her bed made here at our house.”

She said that Amanda had been making plans for the future and had wanted to travel to Thailand to teach children. Maisie said: “She worked in cyber security, she was so smart and so clever.”

She said that Amanda loved working on cars, particularly her Mercedes AMG, adding that Amanda liked pink unicorns. Maisie said: “She always put everybody before herself. She was funny, kind and caring. She lit up a room wherever she went and if you mentioned her name, people smiled, she was that kind of person.

Maisie said that Amanda had 'touched so many lives' as she was always willing to be there for a friend. She added: “Nothing was ever a problem. If someone called for help, she would be there in five minutes. We knew she had struggled for a while, but this was a shock for everyone, it has left a really big hole in our lives,” she said.

The GoFundMe page has asked for donations to help with Amanda’s funeral. It said: “We have all lost an important, amazing, kind soul.

“We want to give Amanda the memorial she deserves, to honour her memory and say our last goodbyes.” Maisie said the goal was to raise £10,000 by May 26 in order to plan for the funeral.
