Friends and mercy crews fought for over an hour in attempts to revive a tragic lad who died in an Ayrshire loch on Sunday.
Scott Ferries, 24, was pulled from the water at the weekend after his kayak capsized in Loch Doon.
The young mechanic from Ayr was enjoying a camping trip with pals when disaster struck around 1.15pm.
Scott was with a friend on the small boat when they got into difficulty at the East Ayrshire beauty spot.
Bereaved older cousin, Jordan Ferries, has told of the desperate rescue mission from emergency services and pals to save Scott’s life after rushing to the scene near Dalmellington.
An online fundraiser has been launched by Jordan to support the devastated family and give Scott the send-off he deserves.
It comes after heartfelt tributes were paid to Scott with well-wishers describing the former Auchinleck Academy pupil as “one in a million".
Scott's dad James told Ayrshire Live how his "wonderful son" lived for his family, friends and dog Roxy and hailed the lad as being a handy mechanic in the family business, Somerset Garage in Ayr.
A statement on the GoFundMe page from Jordan reads: “We're looking to raise funds for the family to help with the funeral costs of Scott Ferries after his tragic and unexpected death following a kayaking accident at Loch Doon on March 27, 2022.
“Friends and emergency services tried to resuscitate Scott for over an hour. Sadly, they were not able to get him back.
“We thank anyone who would like to donate to help the family with these unexpected costs in such a horrible situation.
“Scott Ferries was 24, a young and upcoming mechanic, working with his dad at the Somerset Garage in Ayr.
"The youngest of the Ferries boys, he will be greatly missed by his brothers, sister, friends, family and all those whose life he touched.”
