Help is available for artists and art affiliated groups in parts of Kentucky hit by recent natural disasters. The Kentucky Arts Council is offering funds to artists and schools in areas hit by last December’s tornadoes in western Kentucky and July’s floods in eastern Kentucky.
Emily Moses is the executive staff advisor for the council. She said artists or organizations must be a disaster-stricken county to apply.
“The counties of eligibility are counties that were declared through FEMA as eligible for public assistance in addition to individual assistance, so public assistance counties.”
Moses said there are different tiers of grants available.
“One for Kentucky’s non-profit arts organizations in those designated areas, another for individual artists and a third for arts education opportunities for Kentucky kids in classrooms and schools and school districts.”
Artists, organizations and schools in the following counties are eligible to apply:
Eastern Kentucky Counties: Breathitt, Casey, Clay, Cumberland, Floyd, Harlan, Johnson, Knott, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Lincoln, Magoffin, Martin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, Powell, Whitley and Wolfe.
Western Kentucky Counties: Barren, Caldwell, Christian, Fulton, Graves, Hart, Hickman, Hopkins, Logan, Lyon, Marion, Marshall, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Taylor, Todd and Warren.
