Fund Short Covering Lifts Sugar Prices on a Decline in Brazil's Sugar Output

July NY world sugar #11 (SBN25) today is up +0.13 (+0.76%), and August London ICE white sugar #5 (SWQ25) is up +4.00 (+0.84%).

Sugar prices are climbing today for a second day on fund short-covering due to positive carryover from Thursday on signs of smaller sugar output in Brazil.  Unica reported Thursday that Brazil's 2025/26 Center-South sugar production for the first half of May fell -6.8% y/y to 2.408 MMT and that cumulative 2025/26 Brazil Center-South sugar output through mid-May is down by -22.7% y/y to 3.989 MMT.
