Leeds United supporters are distraught following the news Kalvin Phillips is set to join Manchester City. The Athletic were the first outlet to report the Whites will accept a fee of around £50million for their academy product and star asset.
Reports have continuously linked Phillips with a move away from Elland Road since promotion to the Premier League was secured. Fears of losing their star asset heightened after the 26-year-old shone for England at EURO 2020 last summer, with Newcastle United and West Ham vying for Phillips’ signature.
However, the champions appear to have won the race to sign Phillips and advanced talks are underway. Leeds fans are raging following the news and believe his sale is ominous for the Whites’ chances next season.
