‘Full of pride’: Sink The Pink announce last ever club night at London’s Printworks

After 13 years in which it grew to become the UK’s largest queer party, Sink The Pink has announced plans to call time on its legendary club nights — but not before it throws one last bash to say farewell.

Founders of the event series, which has been widely credited with helping LGBTQ culture become a celebrated part of the mainstream, said they had made the decision “with heavy hearts, but full of pride at what has been achieved”.

“We’ve proved that queerness holds enormous power and should be celebrated wherever possible,” read a statement signed by founders Glyn Fussell, Amy Zing and “the Sink The Pink Family”.

“We’ve given space to the most progressive and beautiful humans that have been an integral part of the queer landscape of London,” it continued. “We’ve helped form friendships, relationships and life long memories.”

Fussell and Zing added that although “Sink The Pink has achieved more than we could ever have hoped for”, they felt that “it’s the right time to hang up our heels and make way for a new generation of queer London to shine through”.

The final club night, named The Farewell Ball, will take place at Canada Water’s 6,000-capacity Printworks on April 15. Tickets will go on sale on February 2 — sign up at sinkthepink.com to stay in the loop.

And although Sink The Pink will step away from hosting shows in nightclubs, Fussell and Zing confirmed that they will “continue to work with artists and brands to help make the world a little brighter and will always be part of our festival Mighty Hoopla”.

Beginning life as a queer night at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club back in 2008, the collective has since grown to host all manner of events across drag, cabaret, dance music and beyond.

In recent years, Sink The Pink has performed alongside the likes of Melanie C and Little Mix, and sold out venues such as Brixton Academy.
