There will be more than pride to play for in today's Merseyside derby at Anfield as Liverpool look to get one over their rivals Everton and close the gap on Manchester City.
City won 5-1 at home to Watford on Saturday to extend their lead at the top to four points. But that lead will be back down to one point if Liverpool beat struggling neighbours Everton.
They will be favourites to do just that given they recorded a convincing 4-0 home win over Manchester United in midweek. That win had initially moved Liverpool to the top of the table. But City have subsequently swept aside Brighton and Watford at the Etihad to move back to the summit.
