Liverpool's injury issues faced in the opening matches of the Premier League season have been far from ideal, though a positive update emerged on Friday afternoon regarding the availability of a number of players.
It is no secret the midfield department is the area of the pitch the Reds have been lacking in of late, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Thiago Alcantara all nursing injuries. Jones made his return to the matchday squad on Wednesday evening against Newcastle United, in the same game Jordan Henderson became the latest individual heading for the treatment table.
Things do, however, seem to be gradually easing in this department as key members of the squad edge closer to the team. Darwin Nunez is eligible to face Everton after serving his three-match suspension, meanwhile Diogo Jota could bolster Liverpool's attacking options having returned to first-team training on Thursday. A decision will be made regarding whether the Portugal international will be included in the matchday squad to take on the Blues.

Thiago and Ibrahima Konate are also close to making their respective comebacks, though the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita still appear some way from overcoming their setbacks.
"Thiago is the closest of all, I think the start of next week he will be in team training," Klopp explained on Friday afternoon. "Ibou is not too far away, in and around the international break he will be back in training. Hendo we don't know. Nothing yet, still waiting for the result. He is definitely out, injured but don’t know the extent.
"Naby (Keita) is a muscle injury, Ox (Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain) is a muscle injury and obviously they will be out for a while. Calvin Ramsay is still out but really getting closer, for him some of it is to do with his back and something to do with age and growing. He hasn't trained properly with us yet but he gets closer."
Meanwhile, Klopp also confirmed that he does not expect new signing Arthur Melo to be available for today's derby, with the club waiting to receive international clearance following his arrival on deadline day.
Here is the full Liverpool squad set to be available for selection, barring any late fitness issues.
