The UK is facing more potential disruption over strike action in the next couple of weeks.
Workers in a number of different industries are planning to walk out over disputes about pay, jobs and working conditions, with many more balloting for strike action.
New strikes or ballots for industrial action are seemingly announced every week as workers across the UK demand pay rises to keep up with rapidly rising inflation and the cost-of-living crisis.
The so-called "winter of discontent" comes as industrial relations continue to get worse, and union officials accuse the Government of doing little or nothing to help employees struggling with soaring bills.
It's likely that these strikes and planned ballots will cause significant disruption to the public in the run-up to Christmas.
With that in mind, here is a list of all the strike action and planned ballots taking place across the coming weeks.
Strike action and ballots for 2022
Postal workers
Large scale strike action over pay and conditions will take place on the following dates:
- October 13
- October 20
- October 25
- November 28
There are also a further 15 days of smaller-scale strike action planned for November and December, according to the CWU.
Teachers
The Educational Institute of Scotland ( EIS ) opened a postal ballot for strike action on October 12.
Government workers
A GMB ballot of 100,000 local government workers closes on October 21.
Nurses
A strike ballot of Royal College of Nursing members closes on November 2.
NHS staff
A strike ballot carried out by Unite closes on November 4.
Midwives
A strike ballot of Royal College of Midwives members opens on November 11.
