Dublin motorists are being warned that new speed-camera zones have come into effect from today, with 61 new cameras installed across the country.
It is hoped that this move will reduce speed-related crashes, lessen injuries, and save lives. So far there have been 89 deaths on Irish roads in 2022, which is 28 more compared to 2021.
The new mobile safety cameras will become operational from 6am today and will bring the total number of safety camera zones to 1,373. The new locations were selected following an analysis of collated Garda data acquired from fatal, serious, and minor traffic collisions.
