Full list of Lloyds and Halifax branches to shut down this year

Between August and November this year, Lloyds Banking Group will be closing down 28 branches, 20 being Lloyds Bank and eight Halifax.

As reported by the Daily Mirror this will see 309 banks to be closed by the end of 2022 alone.

Lloyds Banking Group that owns Lloyds, Halifax and Royal Bank of Scotland, has stated that falling customers had led to the closures.

A Lloyds Banking Group spokesperson said: "It remains true that online and mobile banking continue to grow, as branch usage falls.

"On average, visits to these 28 branches have dropped by 60% since 2016, while we now have 18.6million regular online banking customers and over 15million mobile app users."

Lloyds added that each of the branches affected by the closures have access to a free cash machine or Post Office within a mile, allowing customers to have limited banking services.

However, union Unite has said that 69 workers are affected by the recent move, as the closures will have also closed 88 branches by the end of 2022.

Unite national officer Caren Evans said: “The actions of Lloyds Banking Group over the last few months are completely inexcusable. The management is letting down customers and their dedicated workforce.

“These closures will leave some customers more than 10 miles from their nearest bank branch. This is a betrayal of some of the most vulnerable, elderly and socially excluded in our communities who need local access to community banking.”

The new closures mean the banking group will have closed 88 branches by the end of 2022.

Below is the full list of bank branch closures that have been announced today.

Brits can utilise some banking services at Post Offices, as banks pay the Post Office to offset the impact of the closures- however such has limitations compared to an official bank branch.

Users cannot open a bank account at a Post Office or solve issues regarding a bank account, while such conditions also depend on who you bank with.

For customers who use Bank of Scotland, HSBC or Lloyds, they can use any Post Office banking services to withdraw and deposit cash, check your balance and as well as deposit a cheque.

On the other hand, for those who bank with Nationwide, you can only withdraw cash and check your balance.
