Last week, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) announced that more than 8 million people across the UK will receive a cash payment from next month to ease the rising cost of living pressures. The first instalment of £326 will land in bank accounts from July 14, continuing to the end of the month.
However, some people are still unsure which benefits they qualify for and when they will receive it. There is also a bit of confusion as to whether a payment is for an individual or if it’s for a household.
Even the £400 energy bill rebate, which is being applied to everyone with a domestic electricity account across the country, has prompted a few MPs to seek clarification from the Department for Energy on eligibility for people in park/mobile homes or those who pay costs indirectly. Unfortunately, answers to those questions will not come until the technical consultation into how the UK Government and energy suppliers plan to deliver this - sometime over the summer.
