We are fast approaching the end of the year and with it the last bank holidays of 2022. This year the Boxing Day bank holiday date fell on Monday, December 26, while the substitute bank holiday for Christmas Day took place on Tuesday, December 27, wrapping up all the long weekends for 2022.
However New Year's Day is just around the corner with it comes the first bank holiday of 2023, which takes place on Monday, January 2. The next bank holidays in England and Wales will then fall in April for Good Friday and Easter Monday before three dates, including an extra one, come around in May.
Next year the UK will get an extra bank holiday for the coronation of King Charles III. Back in November Downing Street confirmed the holiday would be on Monday, May 8, two days after the coronation at Westminster Abbey, and will apply across the UK.
