Full list of city areas hit by 'huge' power cut and black out

People across the city are experiencing a "sudden" power cut as lights flicker.

After reports some people were without power this evening (Monday, August 1) the Scottish Power Network (SPN) has confirmed a huge outage hit parts of Liverpool at 9.09pm. Homes, shops and businesses are affected in the city centre, Kensington and Edge Hill.

Scottish Power said they had “no advance warning” of the power cut and their engineers were deployed to investigate and are currently "on site".

In an update on their website, the company said: "There is a power cut affecting the L1, L3 & L7 postcode area of Liverpool. We had no advance warning of this and first became aware of it at 9.09pm.

"Our engineers have arrived on site and will work to restore your electricity supply as quickly and as safely as possible. We expect the power to be restored by 11.15pm.

"The latest updates can be found on our website www.spenergynetworks.co.uk. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."

The full list of affected postcodes are: L1, L1 9AS, L1 9AX, L1 9BD, L1 9BH, L1 9BP, L1 9BQ, L1 9BX, L1 9BY, L1 9DE, L1 9EF, L1 9HZ, L1 9JG, L3 5, L3 5RF, L3 5SR, L3 5TB, L3 5TF, L3 5TQ, L3 5UG, L3 5XF, L3 5YD, L6 97ZX, L7 7BJ, L7 7BL, L7 7BP, L7 7DL, L7 7DN, L7 7DP, L7 7EA, L7 7EE, L7 7EJ, L7 7HA, L7 7JB and L9 3ES.

A spokesperson for SP Energy Networks said: “After parts of the city experienced a temporary outage, we immediately deployed engineers onsite and worked to restore power for homes and businesses in the area. We regret any inconvenience caused to the local community and are currently investigating the cause of the outage.”
