Full list of British Soap Award 2022 winners

The British Soap Awards returned to TV tonight after two years off air.

The coronavirus pandemic meant that soaps haven't been celebrated properly in some time. But tonight spirits were high and actors and actresses dressed to the nines for an evening that brought Emmerdale, Coronation Street, EastEnders, Hollyoaks and Doctors together for a night of celebration.

Many awards were up for grabs including three awards which the public could vote for - Best British Soap, Best Leading Performer and Best Family. The rest were chosen by an expert panel.

Emmerdale came out victorious as they walked away with four awards. They won Best British Soap, Best Leading Performer, Best Dramatic Performance and Best Family categories.

Three of their four awards were won by public votes and only one expert panel category named them victorious. While they did exceptionally well, fans still felt like they were robbed of the Best Storyline and Villain of the Year awards.

Meena Jutla actress Paige Sandhu was beaten by Misbah’s historic rape on Hollyoaks for best storyline where the character opened up to her family about being sexually assaulted in powerful scenes. She was also beaten by Corrie's Maximus Evans (Corey Brent) for villain of the year.
