Full list of airline strikes including BA, easyJet, Ryanair and more ahead of summer

Pilots and cabin crew members are due to strike over the next two months as industry tensions continue to ramp up.

That includes some of Europe's biggest airlines such as British Airways, Ryanair and easyJet, with industrial action planned in both the UK and abroad.

The action comes as staff say they've been underpaid and overworked in the aftermath of the pandemic, the latter which has dealt huge financial blows to the travel industry.

The resulting strikes are likely to add further complications trips abroad this summer, on top of the chaos at airports' security gates and baggage collection that have been a feature of the season to this point.

Below are a list of the European strike which have been called so far.

Industrial action is planned for 15,16,17, 29,30 and 31 July with members of easyJet staff in Spain expected to walk out.

Members of the Spain USO Union are taking action over pay and working conditions with over 450 cabin crew members called to strike.

USO said: “Spain’s cabin crew has the lowest basic income of all European easyJet hubs.

“If you fly a lot of hours, you end up paying your invoices but reducing your break time and doing a higher number of flight hours.”

Strike action is likely to affect easyJet bases in Spain which are Barcelona, Malaga and Palma.

An easyJet spokesperson said the airline plans to operate its full schedule and would do everything possible to minimise disruption.

On July 1, four flights were cancelled during the strikes with journeys from London and Birmingham affected.

The strikes scheduled for the end of July could impact British tourists trying to get away for the school holidays.

British Airways strikes

BA is also facing strike action as hundreds of Heathrow customer service agents plan to take industrial action in July.

The workers are striking over an ongoing pay dispute regarding a 10 percent salary cut during the pandemic.

British Airways has offered the staff a one off bonus payment but the employees would like the money reinstated permanently.

Strike dates have yet to be announced but it is likely to hit the peak summer school holiday period.

Workers are required to give at least two weeks notice of any strike action so dates are likely to be announced soon.

Ryanair strikes

The Ryanair strike, which is limited to Spain, kicked off on Thursday and caused the airline to cancel 10 flights in the country on Saturday.

Ryanair cabin crew will strike on 12-15, 18-21 and 25-28 July at 10 airports across Spain, according to the USO and SICTPLA unions.

They are in a dispute with the low-budget airline over pay and working conditions. The unions have called on the airline to resume negotiations.

“The unions and crew of Ryanair demand a change of attitude from the airline,” they said in a statement.

No UK based strikes have yet been called by Ryanair staff.

Other airline strikes for summer 2022

So far there has been no sign of industrial action from other major airlines which operate UK routes, such as Wizz Air, TUI and Jet2.

However Scandinavian airline SAS is another major European operator to deal with strikes, with 900 staff due to walk out later this month.

Italian trade unions have also threatened further strikes this summer, with potential walk-outs involving Italian pilots and flight attendants from Ryanair, Malta Air, CrewLink, easyJet and Volota.

On Friday ground staff at Charles de Gaulle in Paris walked out in what is expected to be the first of a number of strikes to impact the airport.
