The Early May Bank Holiday weekend is coming to an end, but there are still plenty of Bank Holidays to come this year. In fact, the next two both take place this month.
Throughout the year, Brits in England and Wales usually enjoy a total of eight bank holidays while those in Scotland enjoy nine bank holidays and 10 in Northern Ireland. In 2022 and 2023, the UK received an extra bank holiday for the platinum jubilee celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II and this year, the coronation of King Charles III.
The next Bank Holiday is set to take place on Monday, May 8 for the King’s Coronation Bank Holiday. The King’s coronation officially takes place on Saturday, May 6.
Then at the end of the month, there is the spring bank holiday, which usually takes place during half term. This year it falls on Monday, May 29. Then it will be a three-month wait for the next bank holiday which takes place in August.
Then after that, it’s another long wait for the next bank holiday at Christmas.
