A long list of medical problems that drivers must declare to the DVLA has been confirmed by the government agency. Those who fail to comply risk a large fine, and even a licence surrender.
In 2022, the DVLA amended the medical portion of its application, meaning doctors do not have to assist in filling out an applicant's medical questionnaire. This was done to make it easier for people to declare any conditions when applying for or updating their licence.
Now, this ability has been extended to specialist nurses and opticians, too, reports Derbyshire Live. The licensing authority currently lists 118 conditions that must be reported and failure to do so could mean a £1,000 fine, or possible prosecution if an accident occurs.
