Leeds United will be without German central defender Robin Koch tonight as the 25-year-old sits out competitive action in accordance with concussion protocols.
Koch - who has deputised in defensive midfield since returning to the side in December - sustained a head injury following a collision with Manchester United's Scott McTominay at the weekend.
He was withdrawn with 30 minutes on the clock, having carried on for 15 minutes or so after receiving treatment following the initial incident.
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa insisted in his pre-match press conference yesterday morning that Koch was allowed to carry on as he passed all on-field procedures which assess for potential brain injuries in competitive sport. He did concede that as soon as Koch began to manifest symptoms of something more serious than the cut to his forehead, the player was told to go to ground and was subsequently removed.
Bielsa also disclosed there were no new injury concerns within the Leeds squad, meaning it will likely be a largely unchanged group who make the trip to Anfield tonight.
Koch's place in the starting XI is expected to be filled by Adam Forshaw, while his place in the squad will likely be made up by one of the U23 players present at Elland Road on Sunday, who did not make the matchday squad.
"He's the option that we're managing," Bielsa said when discussing the possibility of Forshaw standing in for Koch.
Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper remain a week away from their projected return in the first week of March, while there was no update on the progress of Patrick Bamford from Bielsa.
Young defender Leo Hjelde remains sidelined with a knee injury which may require surgery. He has withdrawn from international duty with Norway's U19 group ahead of next month's fixtures.
Here is Leeds United's anticipated 20-man squad to arrive at Anfield this evening.
