Full Irish breakfast costing €13.50 leaves people divided over controversial feature

The public has been divided on the correct lay out of a full Irish breakfast following a "controversial" post online showing beans separated from the rest of the grub.

Featured on Reddit Ireland, the €13.50 fry-up was posted by someone on a visit to Dublin, where they asked if the public thought their plate was a "good deal?"

The plate shows a traditional Irish fry up composed of hash browns, black and white pudding, toast, sausages, an egg, mushrooms, a fried tomato and the point of contention, a portion of beans.

While several commenters noted it as looking nice although a little on the "pricey" side, the real debate broke out on whether the beans should be separated by a ramekin.

One wrote: "My wife always has the beans in a ramekin as well, because she has notions."

Another popular comment said that beans sequestered in a little ramekin is a "good idea."

The most popular comment on the entire thread read: "I'll give high marks to any fry that has the beans separate to the rest."

An opposing view said that they wanted "bean juice all over my breakfast" while another with a high amount of upvotes said: "I prefer to use the sausage as a breakwater."

One part of the heated debate pointed to the difference between Irish and English fry-ups.

They noted that one of their favourite things about Britain and Ireland is how everyone has their own fry, which is essentially "minute variations" on the same plate.

"They will vehemently defend theirs as superior despite the tradition only stemming back about 60-70 years. It's not like I'm above it either. I'm literally sitting here looking at those hashbrowns with scorn," the commenter wrote.

One final comments decided to rate the entire plate overall giving the bacon "ten on ten" and described the button mushrooms as being "bingo" and the black pudding as "snap."

"Minor criticism- more distance between the eggs and the beans, I may want to mix them I want that to be my decision, use a sausage as a breakwater, but I'm knit picking, on the whole a very good effort seven on ten," they wrote.

What do you think? Should the beans on an Irish fry up be separated? Have your say in the comments below.
