Missed Out On Buying A Rare Aprilia? Buy This One Instead

We've all had our bouts with FOMO or the fear of missing out. Whether it's a missed concert, a missed vacation, or a missed opportunity to snag something, everyone's had that moment that directly follows something they wish they could've done.

Personally, I still struggle with FOMO from a Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 dealer special that was $4,000 under MSRP. That motorcycle was the closest road bike to the feeling of flying through the canyons like a bird, and I curse that I couldn't quite make the case at the time. Maybe one day...

Those moments are hard to live with, even though that particular motorcycle is still within reach for me. But for those folks living with their own FOMO due to special editions slipping through their fingers, it's far worse, as you're stuck hoping one day, someone will decide they're done with whatever the motorcycle is and finally sell it.

Well, today's that day for Aprilia fans with FOMO, as a brand-new, still-in-crate 2021 Tuono X is up for auction. Now's the chance to cure that itch.

The motorcycle in question is a 2021 Aprilia Tuono X, is based on the brand's V4 architecture, and was, at the time, the ultimate expression of an Aprilia naked road bike. It followed in the RSV4 X's footsteps, which debuted a year prior, and was limited to just ten motorcycles total. Those sold out in minutes, which is why a year later, Aprilia did the thing again, and made the Tuono X limited to just 30. Those, too, sold out in minutes, which is where everyone's FOMO began.

This particular Aprilia Tuono X is number 18 out of that 30, and according to the listing, was purchased new by the seller from an Aprilia dealership. How they got the allocation, however, isn't listed, but damn, they lucky. The motorcycle, however, basically went into storage directly from the factory, as the Tuono X is still in its original shipping crate and comes without fuel, coolant, or oils. If you did want to get it running, you're likely looking at replacing most, if not all, of the rubber hoses, as sitting without those fluids tends to break down plastics.

It is a wonderful piece of art, though. Not exactly my personal jam, but to each their own—ride your motorcycles!

According to Iconic Motorbike Auctions, "The sale includes the factory display carpet, rear stand, and matching helmet. It also includes a bike cover, Aprilia USB drive, and an exhaust baffle," and " Currently located in Gatineau, Québec, Canada, this Aprilia is offered on a Certificate of Origin."

At present, the price is $45,475, which is about the MSRP from when it was new. You'd think given its crated status and zero miles it'd be more, but the world of collector motorcycles can be weird some times. But if you missed out on that original batch, now's your chance to finally cure your FOMO once and for all.
