Fulham send scouts to 'watch' Nottingham Forest ace as list of suitors continues to grow

Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall has been watched by scouts from newly-promoted Fulham, according to reports.

Worrall's impressive performances for Forest have resulted in continued transfer interest from a host of clubs, most notably including West Ham and Leicester City. According to reports in the national media, it now appears Fulham have added themselves to the growing list of wannabe hosts for Worrall.

The 25-year-old central defender has played 90 minutes in all but seven Championship matches this season when he was recovering from a calf injury and fractured ribs. His displays alongside Scott McKenna and Steve Cook have been fundamental in the Reds reaching the play-off final, where they will play Huddersfield Town for a place in the Premier League.

Forest will be desperate to achieve promotion in order to reap not just the financial benefits, but also to retain several of their key players. Worrall is contracted to Forest until 2024; however, The Sun claim that the Nottingham-born central defender will move clubs if the Reds do not make it into the Premier League.

The report adds that Fulham top scout Brian Talbot has been sent to watch Worrall in each of the play-off fixtures so far. The Cottagers are not the only club holding out for a failed promotion bid from Forest, however, with Leicester City and West Ham reportedly also keen for that outcome.

Worrall has previously spoken openly about how close he came to joining a Premier League club last summer. In November 2021, he said: "It was very close in the summer with a certain club. I had a Zoom meeting with the manager. We discussed monies, accepted monies.

"For me, I'm very glad it didn't work. They're doing very well in the Prem, but there's just something inside me that's happy I didn't go."

"I think it's something that, if it does happen one day - touch wood it is with Forest - but if it isn't, it'll be with a club that will show me a bit more love than the club that turned me down in the summer," he added.
