The Food Safety Authority of Ireland is warning consumers over a vegan brand that has mislabelled its soup.
The error occurred in the factory, when the wrong product was placed inside a can labelled ‘Suma Vegan Organic Spicy Lentil Soup.’
During the packing process, another product - the ‘Suma Cheesy Pasta Pot’ - was put into the opaque can, which has entirely separate allergens that are not listed.

As a result of this, there are fears that anyone allergic or intolerant to gluten or wheat could become ill consuming this product.
The batches implicated in this recall are as follows: “Suma Vegan Organic Spicy Lentil Soup; pack size: 400 g; best before date: end October 2023; batch number: 0300/01-21.”
The FSAI’s notice explained: “The implicated batch of Suma Vegan Organic Spicy Lentil Soup was mis-packed with Suma Cheesy Pasta Pot.
“The product contains cereals containing gluten which is not mentioned on the label.
“This may make the batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of cereals containing gluten.”
