The front door of a Huyton house was set on fire in a suspected arson attack.
Emergency services, including police and fire crews, were called to reports of a fire at a property on Woolfall Heath Avenue, at around 11.15pm on Tuesday, June 27. At the scene they found that the fire had already been put out by a member of the public.
There was significant damage to the front door of the house but no one was injured during the incident. A spokesperson for Merseyside police said detectives are in the early stages of investigating the incident, but believe the fire was started deliberately.

Detective Inspector James Rotheram said: "It’s still very early in this investigation, but it appears as though the fire was started deliberately. I’d like to thank a passer-by who noticed the fire and managed to safely put it out and alerted emergency services.
"It could have been a lot worse if it wasn’t for this quick thinking. To deliberately start a fire, especially at a residential home, is incredibly dangerous and we are determined to find the person responsible.
