From whacks to riches: Ball boy kicked by Eden Hazard named on UK Rich List with £55m net worth

The former ball boy who hit the headlines after being kicked by Eden Hazard has been named on the 2023 Sunday Times Rich List.

The annual report into the wealthiest people across the country named Charlie Morgan joint-27th on its Under-35s list, with a hefty net worth of £55million.

The figure puts him between current Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling (£61m) and England captain Harry Kane (£51m).

Morgan, now 27 who was 17 at the time of the infamous League Cup semi-final incident, set up AU Vodka alongside school friend Jackson Quinn three years afterwards.

Sales rocketed past £43.9m in 2021-22 as the luxury brand became a hit in bars and nightclubs, even earning attention via Jake Paul after a promotion to pay the YouTube boxer $250,000 to get a tattoo of a bottle on his arm.

The entrepreneur is said to have not wanted his clash with Hazard to define himself after the moment in his final game as a Swansea ball boy.

Morgan had joked online before the Chelsea game that he would help the Swans time waste and he lay on the ball as Hazard approached late in the tie, earning a kick from the Belgian to see him sent off.

Hazard apologised immediately after the game to the youngster, whose dad Martin is a wealthy hotelier and property tycoon who serves on the club board.

The then-Blues star said: “The boy put his whole body on to the ball and I was just trying to kick the ball. I think I kicked the ball and not the boy. I apologise.”
