From skin changes to a good night’s sleep: how to build a better menopause

QVC-Header-HR

Although no two women’s experience of menopause will be the same, around 85% of us will experience some of the many symptoms, which include hot flushes, fatigue and discomfort during sex. You might be just noticing the first signs of menopause or be well-versed in how it affects your body – but wherever you are in your menopause journey, QVC has products and tools to support and empower you.

Whether you’re looking for ways to manage hot flushes, want to protect your bone health, or enjoy a good night’s sleep, there’s something here for you. Read on for our pick of what’s on offer.

For changing skin

Older skin can need a bit of extra TLC – and you’ll find it in spades in QVC’s Reveal your radiance collection.

Changes in hormone levels during menopause can lead to your skin becoming dehydrated and thinner than it previously was. Focus on skincare products that include ingredients to specifically target tired looking skin, such as the Proto-col 4 Piece Skincare collection, which includes ingredients like aloe vera, Japanese mint and plant collagen to effortlessly elevate your daily skincare routine.

As your skin texture changes, you may want to introduce exfoliants to your routine. Opt for products with natural exfoliators such as this Elemis AHA Glow Cleansing Butter, which can be more gentle on sensitive skin, working to brighten your complexion while clearing away impurities.

Serums are a great way to lock in hydration, perfect for when you need an instant boost. Concentrated formulas such as the Superskin Serum from Liz Earle will do all the hard work for you: lifting, firming and evening the appearance of your skin tone while helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

For disrupted sleep

A restless night’s sleep is a common complaint during the menopause. For some women this starts early in perimenopause – and sometimes it’s the first sign that things are changing.

Your sleep can be impacted directly by declining levels of hormones, potentially causing general sleep disturbance as well as other symptoms such as night sweats and needing to wake up to go to the loo – but there are some great products out there to help you catch those zeds.

If you struggle to wind down at the end of the day, it can help to actively create a calming sleep environment. Pillow sprays such as these from This Works and Neom are formulated with essential oils to help you unwind and drift off. Or you can bring a touch of calm to your bedroom (or any space you like to relax in) with Neom’s Wellbeing Pod. This electric oil diffuser lets off a warm glow while infusing the air with a gently scented mist. The luxe model comes with a breathing mode designed to help you unwind, plus two 30ml essential oil blends from the Scent to De-stress and Scent to Make You Happy ranges.

If you’re affected by night sweats, you can combat them by investing in products designed to keep you cool while you sleep, such as the CoolSoft MenoMat and Silentnight Restore Cooling Copper Pillow & Cooling Pillow Case.

For dull, thinning hair

When the menopause has the audacity to dim the shine of your crowning glory, it’s time to go on the offensive. Hair changes during the menopause are common, with many women experiencing dryness, thinning and hair loss. As with skincare, you may need to adjust the products you use on your hair to combat the changes brought on from the menopause, focusing on volume-building and strengthening.

If you’re dealing with dryer, thinning or downright unruly hair during menopause, you don’t have to wave goodbye to luscious locks for good. Percy Reed’s Turn up the Volume collection can give your tresses the oomph you’re looking for, and you can even give your eyebrows some extra TLC with UKBROW’s hydrating serum. Meanwhile, Philip Kingsley’s Density collection is a comprehensive haircare set designed to tackle fine hair without dryness. With a shampoo for strength, a conditioner for improved resistance and an energising scalp mask, it’s a formidable trio that, with daily use, can help you achieve fuller, thicker-looking hair.

For handling hot flushes

Hot flushes can strike at any time (usually when it’s least convenient), but Menopause Your Way at QVC is full of innovative products and tools that can help you keep your cool.

Try the Embr Wave 2 device and comfort case – inspired by the effect of dipping your toes in a cold pool on a hot day, and based on the science of how our bodies and brains process temperature, this wearable device aims to offer relief from the discomfort of hot flushes by cooling the skin on the inside of your wrist. Tap the wristband’s button for instant activation, or use the app to set a cooling session as you sleep – there’s even a warm setting for when you’re feeling chilly.

After a hot flush, your skin may need some TLC. This duo from Pai is packed with hydrating formulas designed to help soothe, hydrate and calm your skin. Spray after cleansing to restore balance, or over makeup for an instant cooling relief.

For sexual wellness

When low libido and vaginal dryness are causing discomfort, you need QVC’s superb range of products designed specifically for intimate areas and sexual wellness.

The Quanna Oomf CBD lubricant is a non-sticky, water-based lubricant designed to help alleviate vaginal dryness, and its 50ml size makes it ideal for popping into your carry-on bag or bedside table. Free from fragrances, colourants and parabens, it has been created to help enhance intimate moments while being kind to your skin.

When the dry, itchy skin so many of us experience in menopause reaches intimate areas, it can be irritating and uncomfortable. The SBC Lotus Flower intimate wash and moisturiser is a soothing, pH-balanced duo – a 300ml wash and 100ml moisturiser – formulated to be gently moisturising. Infused with blue lotus flower and aloe vera, they have been designed to help offer relief from dryness, discomfort and irritation, plus all-day freshness.

For feeling great inside and out

QVC’s vitamins and supplements collections have everything you need to give your wellbeing a boost, especially important at a time when your body is experiencing a lot of changes.

If you find yourself juggling a variety of different supplements to help you feel at your best, Dr Seaweed’s Weed & Wonderful Menopause Supplements ticks all the boxes in a single dose. Designed to support your body at a time you need it the most, each capsule contains a range of vitamins, plus wild-harvested seaweed. B vitamins can give you an energy boost, vitamin D can help keep your teeth, bones, and muscles healthy, while seaweed is a great source of iodine, which supports your metabolic rate. With a 60-day supply provided in this great-value double pack, it’s a convenient way of giving your nutritional intake an upgrade.

By the time you reach menopause, you should be adept at eating your greens – but we can all do with an extra boost of daily nutrients. Proto-col Wellbeing Complete Greens is a powdered blend full of plant-based goodness, with ingredients including the algae spirulina, ashwagandha root and lion’s mane mushroom, plus added live bacteria strains. Mix just one teaspoon from the great-value 360g double-pack with water or juice, and enjoy an easy, nutrient-rich boost.
