But in 2014, as she geared up to release her Blue Smoke album and embark on a world tour, she spoke with Classic Rock's Nashville correspondent Bill DeMain and gave us one of the funniest and most poignant interviews you’ll ever read. One day in 1975, Dolly Parton got the phone call that all songwriters back then dreamed about. Elvis Presley was making a new album and he wanted to record her song I Will Always Love You. A No.1 country smash for Dolly the year before, it was written about what she calls “the painfully heartwrenching time” spent with her singing partner Porter Wagoner.
