Ryan Tubridy is still catching hell online after last Friday night’s Late Late Show during which he asked Derry Girls’ star Jamie-Lee O’Donnell her age.
The actress, who plays Michelle Mallon on the hit Channel 4 sitcom, made her thoughts known during the awkward interview and spoke about the female experience working in acting.
When she was asked the awkward question by Tubridy, she jokingly answered by claiming to be 117, before shutting down the question insisting that it had 'misogynistic undertones'.

Ryan said: "Can I ask you how old you are?"
Jamie-Lee quickly replied: "I'm 117. I’m very, very wise."
However, Ryan continued to pursue an answer to his question, asking, "Would you consider telling me what age you are?"
Jamie Lee said, "This is the thing about it that gets on my nerves a wee bit, no disrespect . . . it's quite misogynistic even if it's unintentionally because men don't get the same scrutiny in their career."
The interview turned awkward very quickly and had hundreds of viewers chiming in online slamming the Irish presenter for his choice of words.
While the focus remains on this latest live television blunder, here are some of the other most awkward encounters Tubridy has had while presenting the Late Late Show over the years:
Ryan Tubridy’s ‘awkward’ phone call with prize winner, 2021
Back in 2021, Ryan Tubridy was wrapping up an episode of The Late Late Show when he made the highly-anticipated phone call to congratulate the latest prize winner.
When the call went through, things turned awkward quickly on air when a tired man named Gareth answered the phone with a drowsy “hello”.
The Late Late host decided to pick up a large black telephone as the audience listened in on the conversation.
The unsuspecting caller apologised and didn't know who was on the other end of the line.
Ryan tried to get Gareth’s surname from him while saying: “You’re a bit surprised are you?”
The Dublin man was asked if he would like €15,000 worth of Littlewood's items, to which he responded: “I’d love it but my wife would love it better” to the laughs of the audience.
Ryan said in return: “Gareth, you’re in for quite the nightmare because you’re about to present your wife with €15k worth of Littlewood's stuff so have fun and Happy Christmas.”
Before ending the call, Gareth came back, quick as ever saying: “Happy Christmas to you Ryan, I better go up and wake her up.”
Painfully awkward moment with Alexander Skarsgard, 2016
Alexander Skarsgard joined Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show back in 2016 and the pair encountered an incredibly awkward moment live on air.
The Swedish actor was in studio to promote his new film, War On Everyone, with his co-star Michael Peña and director John Michael McDonagh.
After discussing the movie at length, the talk show host questioned the Tarzan star about his experience bag packing in Ireland when he was younger - only to realise his research was a tad off.
“12 hours, I’ve spent 12 hours here,” the actor said, looking very confused.
“I lived in Leeds for a while.
“ We spent one night in a youth hostel in bunk beds with German back packers.
“We had one meal, and we went to Mcdonald's.”
Michael then interjected saying, “Way to go with that research!”
Alexander then laughed it off saying, “Great story guys!”
Ryan O Neal's the weird comment on his daughter, 2015
Hollywood actor Ryan O’Neal appeared on the show in 2015 and spoke about his late partner, Farrah Fawcett, who had died after a long battle with cancer.
Moments after, he made a bizarre comment about his daughter Tatum, who he shared with his first wife Joanna Moore.
"Farrah was so brave and full of courage and never complained. She never let us feel what she was feeling,” he said.
"I haven't been with anyone since. How do you follow that girl?
“Well, I could be with Tatum, I guess, but it's a bit late in the game," he said, as the audience let out an uneasy bout of laughter.
Tubridy couldn’t his shock and said: "That would be a bit weird.”
Viewers were left uneasy after the comment and a Twitter storm erupted while the show was still airing.
Russell Crowe arrived in the studio to chat to Ryan after O’Neal left and reiterated the comments of the nation when he said, “How f***ed up was that?”
Linda Martin's war of words with Billy McGuinness, 2014
Finally, back in 2014, Ireland’s Eurovision entry was chosen during a show called the Eurosong, a competition that was aired on The Late Late Show.
Former Eurovision winner Linda Martin and Aslan’s Billy McGuinness, who was mentoring contestant Laura O’Neill, got caught up in a war of words while cameras were rolling.
Billy, who was seated in the audience, slammed Louis Walsh’s involvement in the Eurovision selections which saw Linda Martin - who was seated on stage - get up from her seat and approach McGuinness in the audience.
She quickly branded him an "odious little man," as the nation held its breath watching on.
Tubridy told everyone “not to lose sight of what was happening” and thankfully managed to finish out the show without further comments from either party.
