From fast food employee to fame — the meteoric rise of Euphoria’s Angus Cloud

There is a scene in the third episode of Euphoria which is largely considered one of the best of the series. It shows the main character, Rue, played by Zendaya, breaking down as she is denied entry to her drug dealer’s house, begging him to “Open the f***ing door,” over and over again, banging, shouting, screaming. Her dealer, Fezco, played by Angus Cloud, resists.

It’s often credited as the scene which proved Zendaya’s acting chops and secured her first Emmy, but it is as much Cloud’s scene as it is hers. The first-time actor leans against the door, silently taking in a deluge of abuse. He is reluctant, remorseful, and he only has about two lines in which to get it across — some of which weigh much heavier today, in his absence.
