Celebrations are under way across the country after an England football team won a major tournament for the first time since 1966.
It was a record attendance for any UEFA competition at Wembley with 87,192 turning out to watch the Lionesses defeat Germany 2-1 thanks to Chloe Kelly's first England goal deep into extra time. Sarina Wiegman's team won every single game at the tournament, demolishing Norway 8-0 on the way and Sweden 4-0, one of the goals a sublime backheel.
Three of the lionesses - Manchester City's Lucy Bronze and Jill Scott, and Arsenal's Beth Mead are all from the North East. And the region took to Twitter to share their congratulations, including their former clubs.
