From $4,185 to $60: Why FIFA Suddenly Cut World Cup Ticket Prices After Weeks of Criticism

FIFA has introduced a new tier of lower-priced tickets for the 2026 men's World Cup following sustained criticism of its original pricing, which supporters' groups and consumer advocates said made attending matches prohibitively expensive. The governing body said the changes were intended to broaden access to the tournament, which will be held across the United States, Canada and Mexico in June and July 2026.

The revised pricing includes a 'Supporter Entry Tier' with tickets priced at $60 (about £45) for all 104 matches, including the final. These tickets will be allocated through national associations to fans of qualified teams. FIFA said the measure was aimed at helping travelling supporters on limited budgets.
