A gig-goer has been left 'scared' after claiming he heard 'spooky voices' during his stay at 'Britain's most haunted hotel '.
Kerry Butters, 52, had travelled to stay in the hotel as he was going to see Elton John in concert.
He captured three videos, filmed on the third floor of the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool, which he says proves the hotel is haunted.
In one of the videos, a demonic voice can be heard muttering in another language - and in another video a voice is heard saying, 'This is my place, don't look', Stoke-on-Trent Live reports.
Self-employed Kerry, of Milehouse, said: "I didn't choose the hotel, my brother Nicholas did the booking for two days while we went to see Elton John. While I was recording the video I never heard anything, or else I would have run back to the room and locked the door.
"But then I noticed the voices the next day while watching the video back at home. I felt scared after hearing the spooky voices.
"I've stayed at the Adelphi many times over the years but never seen or heard anything before. I have never seen a ghost in my whole life. I've read stories that the hotel is haunted but always thought it was just stories."
The Grade-II listed Adelphi Hotel is one of Liverpool's most iconic hotels and its guests have included former Prime Minister Winston Churchill. But the hotel is now part of Britannia Hotels - which includes The North Stafford Hotel, in Stoke - and has 2,695 'terrible' TripAdvisor reviews out of a total of 8,463 reviews.
Spooky goings-on at the hotel have reportedly included hand prints, noises in the night, and ghosts spotted by guests.
Author Tom Slemen said in 2021: “The Adelphi - in my humble opinion - is the most haunted hotel in the UK and some incredibly strange incidents have gone on in both the present Adelphi and the one that stood there before it in Victorian times. I often gave talks in the hotel’s Sefton Suite, and was unaware that this suite is an exact copy of the Titanic’s First Class Smoking Lounge, built by the same craftsmen hired by the White Star line.
“During one talk, there was standing room only, and I and many other people saw three men standing at the far end of the room who were dressed as naval officers with white caps and dark jackets with all the braiding. The middle officer, who looked about 60, had a white beard and stood about 5ft 7 or 8, and the trio were there one moment then gone the next, and there were gasps of shock when this trinity of ghosts vanished.”
Britannia Hotels has been contacted for a statement regarding Kerry's experience.
