Friends of missing Cumbernauld mum Karen Stevenson have organised an early hours walk in a bid to help gather information on the whereabouts of their much-loved pal.
Tracy Dolan and a group of friends and family, as well as locals from the Lanarkshire town, will gather at The Muirfield Centre at 2.30am tomorrow (Saturday, March 5) exactly two weeks on from when the mum-of-two went missing.
The group hope to jog people's memories who may have seen 42-year-old Karen after she was last spotted in the early hours of Saturday, February 19, when she left her home on Lairds Hill in Seafar sometime after midnight.
CCTV footage shows Karen walking towards the town centre and Muirfield community centre near Brown Road and Fleming Road around 2.55am.
However, following door-to-door enquiries by her friends, another apparent sighting of Karen came to light this week, some 25 minutes on from the last known sighting.
Worried pal Tracy told Lanarkshire Live: "Initially the last CCTV footage was of Karen going up the lifts at Cumbernauld centre at 2.55am, but we have now discovered another sighting of her at 3.20am on McGregor Road.
"So we have decided to meet in the early hours of tomorrow morning to walk safely along the same route that Karen took.
"We will be stopping any passers-by, as well as asking drivers to check dashcam footage - especially in local taxis - and asking people as they come out of the nightclubs if they can recall anything at all regarding Karen from that night two weeks ago.
"And again we are pleading with people to check their CCTV from the early hours of Saturday, February 19.
"We have not stopped over the last fortnight handing out leaflets, chapping doors and putting up posters all over the town - literally thousands of posters looking for help in finding our friend.
"We just want her home safe and sound to her partner and children."
Earlier this week, Karen's family launched a fresh appeal for her to get in contact as efforts to locate her continue.
In a statement released on Wednesday her family said: “This is completely unusual for Karen and she has never been missing before.
“The whole family are really worried and would like Karen to get in contact with anybody to let us know she is safe.
“If anyone has any information at all then please contact the police as soon as you can."
Karen is described as 5ft 1ins, of slim build, with long brown hair. She was wearing a purple hooded jacket with a fur lined hood, cream long sleeve t-shirt with a graphic design, black leggings, and black ankle boots.
She also may be carrying a small pink handbag, with metal studs and a chain strap.
Inspector Susan Rae, of Cumbernauld Police Station, said this week: “Extensive searches and enquiries have been carried out throughout the local area in an effort to trace Karen.
“These are continuing and we've been assisted by resources including specialist search advisors, and the dog unit. Officers have also been carrying out house to house enquiries and checking CCTV.
“I know our concern is shared by locals, and I would continue to urge anyone who thinks they may have seen Karen to get in touch as soon as possible. Any information, no matter how small, could help find her.
“If you have seen Karen since Sat 19 February, or have any information that may be relevant to our investigation please call 101 with reference 3369 of 19 February.”
Tracy added: "Anyone who wishes to pop along and help gather information tonight then please join us at the Muirfield Community Centre for 2.30am. The more the merrier and it's safety in numbers at the end of the day."
