Friends carry sofa to Wimbledon queue to wait for tickets in comfort

A group of tennis fans desperate for tickets were spotted bringing their living room sofa in the famous Wimbledon queue this morning. Thousands of tennis-mad fans camped overnight, and videos of the friends queueing on their comfy sofa from home were doing the rounds on TikTok this morning as they waited to get their hands on elusive tickets for the opening day.

After spotting one of their sofas going viral on TikTok , as well as featuring on BBC Breakfast and Magic Radio, Snug contacted the group to get their side of the story on the queue hack. Chris, one of the friends from South London, said: "We all live together in South London, about 30 mins away by car. We've been before, but tickets are getting harder to get so we wanted to come prepared this year. We got our Snug last year, and its usual home is the lounge.

“We were planning our queue experience and one of my housemates had the idea to bring it along because you can take it apart and put it together again and we can queue in comfort. We are a bit worried about the rain and hope we can get it back at the end."

Chris added: "It was a bit mad really. Obviously, the odd person has a tent or deck chair but not a full-on sofa from home and loads of people were commenting or filming it themselves. It was funny. We even let a few other people take a seat. We got a few funny looks from the stewards, but we checked the rules before we came and thought we'd be fine."

A Snug spokesman said: “Loads of social media users have flagged to us that one of our sofas has been brought into the Wimbledon queue. Fair play to these mad tennis fans, it’s an incredible hack for queuing in comfort.

"We reached out to them to find out if they’ve reached the front of the queue and we just offered to cover the cost of their Wimbledon tickets to reward them.

"As for the sofa, we do recommend not keeping it under direct 30C sunlight for more than 40 hours of crazy queuing or the famous Wimbledon rain – but other than that it’s probably better than sitting in the Royal box at SW19.”
