Friday 13th is actually 13% luckier than other Fridays, statistics show

Friday 13th is actually a day of good luck, despite what superstition may say, according to new research. The study, conducted by Paddy Power Games, takes a deep dive into the results of millions of individual online games played by its customers, revealing that players win the jackpot 13% more often on Friday 13 than on other Fridays.

The most recent ‘unlucky’ Friday was in May 2022, but this day saw more wins than any other Friday that month.

Even August 2021’s Friday 13th (the second most recent occurrence of the ‘unlucky’ day) was pretty successful for Paddy Power Games punters. It was luckier than both Friday 6 and 20 August in terms of jackpot wins – a whole 10% luckier than the latter.

Paddy Power Games spokesman said: “Friday 13th is traditionally deemed as unlucky, so we thought it’d be a good idea to get one of our boffins to analyse the results of our online games to find out how our customers get on, on this day. So, well done to the people who reject this superstition and get a reward for doing so.”
