Fresh League One prediction made for Sunderland as MK Dons loss impacts Bolton play-off chances

Bolton Wanderers have 11 games left of their League One season as they aim to make a late charge to make the play-offs.

Wanderers have gone from the bottom half of the table following their January transfer window business and have won eight of their last 11 games to put them in the conversation for the top six.

Ian Evatt's side lost on the road to automatic promotion hopefuls MK Dons with a 2-0 scoreline, and Wanderers will be seeking to bounce back from this next Saturday when they make the long journey down to Kent to take on Gillingham.

Throughout the campaign, football statistics website FiveThirtyEight is forecasting how the League One table might finish after the results of every matchday, with the season reaching the climax of the regular season at the end of April before the play-offs.

And as things stand, Wanderers are tipped to end the season in 10th place, where they currently are right now, and are tipped to have a nine per cent of making the play-offs, down from 18 per cent prior to the MK Dons game, and a three per cent chance of being promoted, a reduction from five.

At the top of the table, Rotherham United are still predicted to finish ahead of Wigan Athletic and secure automatic promotion to the Championship.

The play-offs now tipped to include MK Dons, Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford United and Sunderland, who move back into the top six at the expense of Plymouth Argyle after their big win against Wigan.

Wanderers are currently predicted to finish 10th between Ipswich Town and Portsmouth.

At the foot of the division, Morecambe, Crewe Alexandra, Gillingham and Doncaster Rovers remain the four sides tipped to be playing in League Two next season.

However, the Gills have now moved above Donny in the predicted standings owing to the win on the road over Lincoln City on Saturday
