July WTI crude oil (CLN26) on Wednesday closed up +2.26 (+2.41%), and July RBOB gasoline (RBN26) closed down -0.0127 (-0.40%).
Crude oil prices rallied to a 1.5-week high on Wednesday and settled sharply higher as clashes between the US and Iran cast doubt on prospects for a peace deal that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Crude prices added to their gains, and gasoline prices fell after Wednesday’s weekly EIA report showed that crude inventories fell more than expected and gasoline stockpiles unexpectedly rose.
