Frenkie de Jong's girlfriend, Mikky Kiemeney, has seemingly dropped a hint over the Barcelona midfielder's future amid speculation he is growing unhappy in Spain.
Mikky posted a video of the couple in De Jong's car and wakesurfing with the caption: "Meanwhile... living our best life," suggesting the Dutchman remains happy despite his current situation. She added alongside the clip: "Found another gem in Catalunya."
De Jong has been clear throughout the summer that he wants to stay at Barcelona despite links to Manchester United, and more recently Chelsea. But the Catalan club are actively looking to get their highest earner off the wage bill, and are reportedly considering taking legal action over the midfielder's contract after he rejected their request for him to take a pay cut.
De Jong is owed €17million in amortizations and back payments related to the renewed contract he signed with Barcelona in October 2020, under former president Josep Maria Bartomeu, just weeks before his resignation.
Gerard Pique has this week accepted a salary reduction with Barcelona while Sergio Busquets is in the process of restructuring his contract. AS claims De Jong rejecting Barcelona's wage-cut demands has allegedly caused tension in the dressing room.
De Jong was recently insulted by a group of the Barcelona fans outside the club's training facilities on Wednesday as a result of the ongoing issue.

Barcelona are currently unable to register their five summer signings or renew two contracts with La Liga and have been told to reduce their financial outgoings.
Man United have an initial fee in place with Barcelona to sign De Jong, which would reunite the midfielder with his former Ajax boss Ten Hag. But no final agreement is yet in place for a move.
Negotiations have now dragged on for more than three months and Chelsea chiefs have made contact with Barcelona and have held discussions with De Jong's representatives.
The Blues, who, unlike the Red Devils, can offer De Jong Champions League football this season are now strong contenders to sign the midfielder from under Man United's noses.
