Here are your Manchester United morning headlines for Wednesday, June 1.
De Jong responds to United transfer interest
Erik ten Hag has plenty of work to do this summer as he looks to put together his squad for next season. Among those he’ll be hoping to feature will be a familiar face from his days at Ajax.
United are weighing up a potential move for Frenkie de Jong, having already made contact with Barcelona over his availability. All of the noise from Barca boss Xavi and the club’s hierarchy suggests the midfielder could become available given the club’s precarious financial standing.

De Jong though has now addressed the interest that has been emanating from Old Trafford. The Netherlands international admits he is well aware of United’s pursuit, but has refused to state whether or not he has spoken to Ten Hag about making the move.
Danjuma makes Liverpool revelation amid United watch
De Jong isn’t the only player United are keeping tabs on at the moment. The Reds are also keeping a close eye on Arnaut Danjuma, having admired the Villarreal star from afar after considering him as an alternative to Jadon Sancho last summer.
While United are keeping tabs on the winger, a move remains unlikely under Ten Hag. Danjuma has a €45million release clause which can be activated this summer, although United are well-stocked on the left wing.
They’re not the only side to have shown an interest in the 25-year-old either. Speaking to Dutch media this week, Danjuma revealed Liverpool have also been keeping a close eye on him – and he’s suggested he would consider a move if an offer was made.
