Frenkie de Jong has reportedly come to the realisation that he might not be playing for Barcelona next season.
The Manchester United target was initially adamant on staying at the Nou Camp following his “dream” 2019 switch. But amid his club’s huge debts, he has conceded that he may reluctantly be shown the door this summer.
That’s according to Sport (via Metro), who say De Jong is excited about the idea of renewing ties with former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. The Dutch coach supposedly wishes to build his team around the midfielder.

Discussions between the two clubs are ongoing with United wanting to barter for a lower fee than the £86m price tag Barcelona have set. They want him at around £60m, with the Spanish giants willing to compromise.
Meanwhile, O’Jogo (via Sport Witness) say super-agent Jorge Mendes had held talks with United officials over a potential switch for Porto midfielder Vitinha. The 22-year-old has a release clause of around £34m and offers versatility.
The Portugal international, who still has two years left on his contract, is also being tracked by Barcelona.
