Frenkie de Jong 'bid prepared' as Liverpool said to join Manchester United and Chelsea in race

Liverpool are being linked with a move for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The Reds have been linked with a host of potential new midfielders over the past few months. Those rumours have intensified as Liverpool’s injury list has grown during the early weeks of the season.

Jurgen Klopp is currently without a number of key players as he battles an injury crisis. Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all currently unavailable for selection, with a host of others also on the sidelines.

According to a report in El Nacional , Liverpool are preparing to make a bid to sign De Jong before next week’s deadline. The report states that De Jong’s future is currently uncertain, despite Barca boss Xavi keen to keep him at the club.

It has been claimed that Liverpool are prepared to make a bid to bring De Jong to Anfield. The report states that the Reds are prepared to make an offer worth a little over £52million plus an additional £7.5m in add-ons, totalling close to £60m in all.

De Jong has been a key name in the transfer rumours circle this summer, but not with Liverpool. It has been Manchester United and Chelsea who have been frequently credited with an interest in the Netherlands international.

The report goes a step further saying that Barcelona would be open to letting De Jong leave the club should a suitable offer be tabled. Given the club’s financial situation, the sale of De Jong would allow the La Liga giants to have the funds to be able to register their other summer signings, the report adds.
