The deficit for French public hospitals is estimated at around €2.3 billion for 2025 – the "third-highest level" in the past twenty years – although it is down on the record high of 2024, according to a study published this week.
The overall deficit of public hospitals is thus expected to reach 2.1 per cent of revenue in 2025, amounting to "around 2.3 billion euros”, according to this study by Drees - the public statistics agency for social affairs.
