French financial prosecutors have opened an investigation into Bally Bagoyoko, the mayor of Saint-Denis, over suspected misuse of public funds during his employment by the Paris public transport operator RATP when he was also serving as a local elected official with the France Unbowed party.
The National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF) said on Monday that a preliminary investigation was opened on 19 August for suspected embezzlement of public funds, handling of misappropriated funds and illegal collection of public funds by a public official.
