French prosecutor to investigate fundraiser for police officer who killed teen

The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into an online fundraiser set up by a far-right media personality that raised 1.6 million euros for the police officer who shot dead Nahel Merzouk during a traffic stop at the end of June.

The Paris prosecutor said Wednesday that it opened an investigation into the GoFundMe fundraiser after Merzouk's family filed a legal complaint alleging fraud.
