French President Emmanuel Macron has called for the widening of sanctions against Iran, urging for measures that can also target industries supporting the production of missiles and drones. Macron made this statement during a meeting with European leaders in Brussels on Wednesday.
The call for broader sanctions comes in response to a recent escalation of tensions, particularly after Iran launched more than 300 projectiles towards Israel in a retaliatory aerial attack. This attack involved approximately 170 drones and over 120 ballistic missiles.
Macron emphasized the need to expand the scope of sanctions to address the growing threat posed by Iran's missile and drone capabilities. He highlighted the importance of taking decisive action to deter further aggression and destabilization in the region.
Iran's use of drones in conflicts has raised concerns globally, with instances of such technology being deployed in various conflicts. For example, Iranian drones have been utilized by Russia in targeting Ukrainian infrastructure.
