PARIS: Holger Rune held serve and nerve at the second time of asking to seal a place in the French Open quarterfinal.
The fresh-faced Dane took down Stefanos Tsitsipas, the fourth-seed, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to record a posy of firsts. The 19-year-old became the first man from his country to reach the last-eight of a Grand Slam in the Open Era. Rune joined 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz, becoming the first teenagers in the men's draw to make a major quarterfinal since the 1994 Roland Garros event, where Hendrik Dreekmann and Andrei Medvedev advanced to the last eight.
