French football legend Zinedine Zidane is set to become the next head coach of France, according to French sports daily L'Équipe. The newspaper revealed the news ahead of Sunday's World Cup third-place play-off, in which France lost 6-4 to England.
According to the report, Zidane will officially take over on 1 September, replacing Didier Deschamps. The French Football Federation has not yet confirmed the appointment, but its president, Philippe Diallo, has said an announcement will be made before the end of the month.
