Newcastle United's move for Hugo Ekitike has broken down according the latest reports. A number of outlets are claiming the Magpies have been put off by the agents 'crazy demands' ahead of a proposed transfer.
It's a disappointing development for Eddie Howe's side, if it does indeed turn out to be true, but it also puts pressure on the young forward's representatives. Real Madrid and PSG are also reportedly chasing the signature of the young 20-year-old, but it's at Newcastle where he would stand the best chance of playing.
The striker turned down a move to St James' Park in January, believing it was best to continue his development with Reims for the remainder of the campaign. However, Newcastle entered negotiations for Ekitike again this summer, so far to no avail.

We spoke with Reims expert Timothe Crepin, journalist at 90 Football, who previously compared Ekitike's breakthrough season to Karim Benzema, to get the French media's point of view. He told Chronicle Live it would come as no surprise to see Newcastle pull out of the deal, he said: "For the moment, the transfer is on stand-by. No club seems to be the favourite. His agent wants a 'big' club or a 'serious' club I think.
"I don't know if it's a good choice. For me, Newcastle is a better choice than PSG or Real Madrid. At Newcastle, he has better chances to play."
