Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leading figure in the hard-left France Unbowed (La France Insoumise) political party, will stand in next year's presidential election, he said on Sunday.

"Yes, I am a candidate," Jean-Luc Mélenchon told French broadcaster TF1.
